The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) reports a significant 50% reduction in humanitarian aid entering Gaza in February compared to January. This decrease comes amid ongoing ground operations and heavy fighting in areas such as Northern Gaza, Deir al Balah, and Khan Younis. The conflict has exacerbated the already dire living conditions of 2 million Palestinians, leading to unprecedented levels of starvation and malnutrition. The reduction in aid is attributed to a lack of political will, regular closures, and the challenges posed by ongoing military operations, lack of security, and limited access points. Additionally, the daily average number of trucks entering Gaza with food, aid, and medicine has dropped by more than a third following the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling, from 147 trucks between January 1 and 26, to 93 trucks between January 27 and February 21, 2024, and only 57 trucks thereafter, further hindering the delivery of life-saving support.
