Sports broadcaster Gary Lineker expressed his deep emotional response to the atrocities committed against Palestinians in Gaza during a conversation with Mehdi Hasan. Lineker, known for his football commentary, revealed that the images from Gaza moved him to tears regularly, describing them as some of the worst atrocities he has witnessed in his lifetime. This statement has sparked criticism, with some accusing him of selective empathy, particularly noting his lack of public response to other global atrocities such as those in Nigeria, Syria, Yemen, and Myanmar, as well as the October 7th massacre.
'This dangerous and duplicitous man is a preening narcissist who will take any position to boost his public standing and to appropriate the idea that he’s one of the good guys.' @MrMarkDolan grills Gary Lineker for his 'deafening silence' on the October 7th massacre. https://t.co/r0ydkWWMJj
Gary Lineker said that he’s in tears over Gaza photos. I don’t recall him saying similar over photos of Christians being slaughtered by Islamists in Nigeria. Or when over half a million people were killed in Syria, or massacred in Yemen and Myanmar. His emotions are selective.
read this pathetic pro-Hamas thread. It’s unironically pro-terrorism and McCarthyite. Like OMG so-and-so “blamed Hamas” for October 7! I can’t even. https://t.co/XRDVZWziWT
“…and you know, Hamas thing”. Way to sound so flippant about the worst atrocity committed against Jews since the holocaust. He says he “cries” over images of Gaza but was too busy posting about football (for a change) to acknowledge Oct 7th when it happened. https://t.co/PyPYxh3jtl
