Over the past two years, newspapers have been disappearing at an average rate of more than two per week in the U.S., leaving 204 counties without any local news outlet. Roughly half of all U.S. counties are now served with only one remaining local news source. The disappearance of newspapers has led to concerns about the lack of press freedom and the impact on journalism. The situation has also affected Arab Americans in Silicon Valley, who feel terrified of speaking out in support of Palestinians due to the pro-Israel voices surrounding them. This has created a culture of fear and silence among Arabs in the tech industry.
