Sudan is on the brink of civil war as Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the regular army vie for control of the state. A UN report reveals that ethnic violence by the RSF and allied militants in West Darfur has left between 10,000 and 15,000 dead. Sudan’s military has been arming child soldiers, some as young as 10, in the River Nile state. Furthermore, the foreign ministry, loyal to army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, announced Sudan's suspension from the IGAD. The conflict has plunged nearly half of Sudan's 49 million population into a humanitarian crisis, with over 7.5 million displaced. Khartoum, now under RSF control, has become a lawless and violent capital, with residents saying, ‘They love to attack, loot and destroy. It’s revenge.’
