West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has been actively addressing concerns in the state, focusing on the Sandeshkhali issue and the tragic deaths of four children in Chopra, Uttar Dinajpur. Bose expressed that victims in Sandeshkhali reported harassment to him, stating, "Told Me They Were Harassed," and has appealed for a 'peace visit' to the area. He also mentioned plans to meet with the chairperson of the National Commission for Women to formulate his views more specifically on the Sandeshkhali issue. In response to the atrocities in Sandeshkhali, including the arrest of a journalist, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur condemned the attack on media freedom, highlighting the unfortunate prevention of journalists from reporting. Additionally, Bose inaugurated a peace room at Raj Bhavan aimed at ensuring the safety of Sandeshkhali's women, offering them refuge with the assurance, "if any woman of Sandeshkhali feels insecure, she can shift to Raj bhavan and live there." The Governor's visit to Chopra followed the deaths of four children at an under-construction site near the India-Bangladesh border, where he met with the families of the deceased to listen to their problems and assure them of justice and support, emphasizing, "It is very painful and hurting that four young boys lost their lives here...It is a great loss for the family, for society...I would hear the problems of the village from the villagers themselves, particularly parents who lost" and "Our priority is to protect the families. Justice will be done, support will be given to the near and dear ones of the deceased."
