India is preparing for its longest election season with the introduction of a 'vote-from-home' facility aimed at making the General Elections 2024 more inclusive and accessible. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended this facility to the differently abled and individuals who are 85 years and above for the first time. Postal voting under this new scheme has already commenced in Dharmapuri District, Tamil Nadu, and similar initiatives are being carried out in Erode's parliamentary constituency for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. In Tripura, the Chief Election Officer announced that 4580 and 4760 people have opted for home voting in Tripura-1 West and Tripura-1 East, respectively. The collection of postal ballot votes from eligible voters in Tripura is set to begin on April 9, with trained teams ready to support the process. Polling on Erode seat for Lok Sabha election is scheduled to be held in the first phase on April 19.
