The ongoing Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has faced significant challenges, leading to new restrictions and measures to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims. Pilgrims have protested against mismanagement in Rishikesh, with some waiting for several days to commence their journey. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that decisions were made in the public interest for security and convenience. Due to reduced parking capacity from construction work in Badrinath Dham, a new traffic plan has been implemented. Haridwar SDM Ajayveer Singh mentioned that restrictions on the number of pilgrims were necessary to avoid congestion. Offline bookings for the yatra have been suspended until May 31 due to a huge influx of pilgrims, while VIP darshan at Kedarnath Dham remains suspended. The Uttarakhand government has implemented a compulsory reservation system for devotees. More than 8 lakh pilgrims have visited the four Dhams so far, with over 38 thousand devotees visiting Kedarnath Dham in a single day. The yatra has seen 29 people die in 9 days.
