The Supreme Court of India has intervened in the case of a minor rape survivor, allowing the medical termination of her 28-week pregnancy, citing that the threat to her life is not higher than the risks involved. The court set aside a previous order from the Bombay High Court which had declined the plea for termination. Acting under Article 142 of the constitution, the Supreme Court directed the dean of the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital in Mumbai to quickly form a team of doctors to proceed with the termination.
