Since the implementation of the Election Code of Conduct on March 16, authorities across several states in India have seized a significant amount of money, liquor, and other items. In Andhra Pradesh, items worth Rs 100 crore were seized, as stated by State Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu also saw substantial seizures, with Rs 45.67 crore and Rs 314 crores worth of cash, liquor, narcotics, and precious metals confiscated, respectively. Hyderabad enforcement authorities seized over 34 lakh rupees in cash and registered 144 cases for violations of the Model Code of Conduct. Additionally, in Punjab, enforcement actions led to 21 FIRs under the NDPS Act and the seizure of over 15,000 liters of liquor. Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka reported significant seizures as well, with items worth crores seized ahead of the Lok Sabha Polls 2024, including Rs 18.61 crore in Bengaluru.
