Pro-Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange-Patil has suspended his indefinite fast after assurances from the Maharashtra government. Jarange-Patil, who began his fast to demand Maratha reservation, accused the Congress party of betraying the Maratha community’s interests and warned of repercussions in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Despite initially refusing intravenous fluids, he began taking them on the fifth day of his fast after a Maharashtra Minister assured him that the issue would be resolved. Jarange-Patil, in Jalna, Maharashtra, has given the state government until July 13 to meet the community's demands.
