Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has strongly criticized current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of using hateful and unparliamentary language to target specific sections of society and the opposition. Singh stated that Modi has indulged in the most vicious form of hate speeches, which he claims are purely divisive in nature. He also asserted that Modi is the first Prime Minister to lower the dignity of public discourse and the gravity of the office of the Prime Minister. Singh's comments were made during an appeal to voters in Punjab.
