The Calcutta High Court, led by Justice Jay Sengupta, has repealed Section 144 of the CrPC in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, amid escalating tensions between the BJP and TMC. The court also ordered additional police and, if necessary, paramilitary forces to be deployed in the area. This decision comes in the wake of a series of confrontations, including a clash between police and BJP supporters in Basirhat and the hospitalization of the Bengal BJP president after a clash with the police on his way to Sandeshkhali. The violence has prompted BJP National President JP Nadda to form a high-level committee to investigate the incident. Additionally, the Chairperson Arun Haldar and a Member Anju Bala of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes have visited Sandeshkhali to meet with victims. Political leaders, including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, have made public statements regarding the situation, with Banerjee asserting that there is an RSS base in Sandeshkhali and vowing never to allow any injustice.
