India’s CDS Anil Chauhan Cites Pakistan’s ‘1000-Year War Policy’, Operation Sindoor, and Links Indus Water Treaty to Terrorism

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan addressed escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, emphasizing the complex nature of recent conflicts characterized by a combination of kinetic and non-kinetic operations, which he described as a form of no-contact warfare apart from ongoing skirmishes along the Line of Control. Chauhan highlighted Pakistan's long-standing hostile stance towards India, describing it as a "1000-year war policy" aimed at weakening India through continuous low-intensity conflict. He referenced a speech by Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir, who he said had incited hostility against India and Hindus weeks before the Pahalgam terror attack. General Chauhan linked the Indus Water Treaty to cross-border terrorism, asserting that "water and blood cannot flow together," signaling a firm stance on Pakistan's alleged support for terrorism. He stated that India has raised its red lines in response to state-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan, underlining that India will not tolerate living under the threat of terror and nuclear blackmail. Chauhan's remarks also addressed concerns raised by the Indian opposition Congress party regarding the sharing of advance information about Operation Sindoor, clarifying the government's position on the military operation aimed at countering terrorism.
