The Indian Coast Guard, acting on intelligence provided by Customs authorities, successfully intercepted the fishing vessel 'Aai Tuljai' and its crew 27 nautical miles southwest of Mumbai on May 12. The operation led to the seizure of 30,000 litres of illicit diesel and Rs 1.75 lakh in cash. The vessel was escorted by an ICG Interceptor Boat to Mumbai harbour for further investigation. In a separate incident, the Indian Coast Guard apprehended another fishing vessel, 'Jay Malhar,' with a five-man crew on May 16 off the Maharashtra coast. The vessel was found with five tonnes of unaccounted diesel valued at approximately Rs 27 lakh, along with a small quantity of banned narcotics.
