India is set to launch its first bullet train, connecting the major economic hubs of Surat and Mumbai, with the project's first section between Surat and Bilimora expected to start in 2026. Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during inspections of the project, highlighted the significant features of the bullet train, including a 21km long tunnel, with 7km undersea, reaching a depth of 56 meters underwater and nearly 40 feet in width. The minister also launched the Annual Capacity Building Plan for Ministries of Railways, Communications, and Electronics & IT, emphasizing the long-term investment plans in these sectors for #ViksitBharat. The bullet train's first terminal station will be located at BKC, Mumbai. Vaishnaw expressed satisfaction with the progress, attributing the new level of confidence among railway engineers to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 284-km-long high-speed rail corridor is anticipated to drive economic growth, with Navsari, a region known for its industrial and agricultural growth, playing a pivotal role in this development.
