India-Pakistan Tensions Rise with Operation Sindoor, Pakistan Cites Drone Attacks and Demands Investigation

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated with both countries exchanging accusations and threats of military response. Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations stated that Pakistan does not seek further escalation but reserves the right to respond to Indian attacks. Pakistan's Defense Minister highlighted increased Indian drone attacks and warned of a potential military confrontation, emphasizing that Pakistan faces aggression from India in the east and its proxies in the west. He called for international intervention, including from the US and Gulf countries, to prevent the conflict from expanding.

Pakistan also demanded an international investigation into India's allegations against it. On the other hand, India's Foreign Minister warned that any military attack on India would be met with a firm and decisive response. India confirmed that Operation Sindoor is ongoing, targeting what it describes as terrorist sites in Pakistan. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs accused Pakistan of misleading the international community and funding assassinations within India. Pakistan denied these claims, accusing India of targeting civilians, mosques, and infrastructure. Both sides have accused each other of misinformation and irresponsible actions, with India asserting its military responses have been measured and responsible. The situation remains volatile as diplomatic efforts have yet to yield de-escalation.
