The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has disassociated itself from a study conducted by Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on the side effects of Covaxin, citing the study's poor methodology and design. ICMR clarified that it did not provide any support for the research and criticized the study for erroneously acknowledging ICMR without permission. ICMR has also threatened legal action against the authors for unauthorized acknowledgment.
Not a fan of the research from this group, but it's hard to believe they are suddenly being hounded by ICMR/BHU & right wing Twitter handles because of new concerns about quality of their work. It's obviously because they commented on Covaxin. Pathetic. https://t.co/NGn33zX5FE

I actually agree with this take. I don't know on what basis ICMR can ask for a retraction. The authors documented adverse events occurring within a year, and regardless of what the authors say on Twitter, they don't claim causation in the paper (1) https://t.co/R9kFD1zuVE
