An inter-state child trafficking racket has been busted in Hyderabad by the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate. The gang was involved in 'buying' infants from poor and homeless families in Delhi and Pune and 'selling' them to childless couples in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for amounts ranging from Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh. The investigation, which began with the sale of an infant in Hyderabad, led to the arrest of 8 individuals and the rescue of 16 babies. Reports indicate that the gang had supplied around 50 children from Pune and Delhi. TimesNow reported that 13 babies were rescued.
