BJP Observes Hindu Shaheed Diwas for Chandan Das and His Father in West Bengal Amid Protests Against Waqf Amendment Act

On April 16, 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed 'Hindu Shaheed Diwas' across West Bengal to honor the victims of violence in Murshidabad, specifically Chandan Das and his father, who were reportedly killed by rioters. The commemoration included a tribute outside the State Assembly in Kolkata, led by the Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, who highlighted the emotional state of the Hindu population and called for the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Adhikari stated, 'We are not coward Hindus,' emphasizing the widespread protests occurring throughout the state. BJP State President Sukanta Majumdar also participated in the observance at the party's headquarters, reaffirming the BJP's support for the families of the victims.
