The Ministry of Civil Aviation has initiated eight new flight routes for Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, to enhance air connectivity and facilitate the arrival of pilgrims, starting from February 1, 2024. SpiceJet has commenced non-stop flights connecting Ayodhya to eight cities, including Ahmedabad, Chennai, Darbhanga, Delhi, Jaipur, Patna, and Mumbai, with the eighth destination to be added shortly. Akasa Air has expanded its network to include Gwalior as its 19th destination, with the inaugural flight flagged off by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and MOS Gen. V.K. Singh on February 5. A new terminal building at Gwalior airport, costing Rs 498 crore, is under construction to improve travel for the region's population. Union Minister Scindia also held a productive brainstorming meeting with major airport operators, CISF, Bureau of Immigration officials, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation to discuss airport design models and technologies to speed up immigration and security for international travelers.
