The Minnesota Wild are now just four points behind the Vegas Golden Knights for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference, following a series of impactful games. Despite the Golden Knights being down 4-3 in the third period to the Seattle Kraken and ultimately winning in overtime, they remained six points ahead of Minnesota. However, the Kraken earned a point for the overtime loss, bringing them within three points of the Wild. Notably, Vegas has a game in hand, and the Kraken have two games in hand on the Wild. The Wild's playoff chase is further intensified by Vegas's recent loss to Calgary, and with 15 games remaining in the season, the Wild's upcoming three-game trip against St. Louis, Anaheim, and Los Angeles could be pivotal for their playoff aspirations.
Minnesota just 4 points back of Vegas for WC2. And still two games left head to head
Don't look now but #MNWild are within 4 points of both Western Conference wild cards with 15 games remaining. @PioneerPress https://t.co/cAxvSerfqx
#mnwild four back of a playoff spot. Vegas lost in Calgary. Big three-game trip coming up to STL, ANA and LA
Vegas loses to Calgary. #mnwild are four points back of a playoff spot.
That Seattle-Vegas result was far from ideal for the Wild. Golden Knights win in overtime to remain six points up on Minnesota but the Kraken also get the loser point to pull with three points of the Wild. Vegas has a game in hand and Kraken have two games in hand on the Wild.
#mnwild moved to within four points of Vegas. Golden Knights down 4-3 in third to Seattle now.
