The Vegas Golden Knights kicked off their season with a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken at T-Mobile Arena. Before the game, fans gathered outside the arena hours in advance to show their support. The arena was ready for the season opener, and a giant slot machine was used to raise the Stanley Cup banner to the rafters. The Knights took an early lead in the second period with three goals, including a breakaway goal by Ivan Barbashev. Seattle responded with a goal from Jared McCann, making it 3-1. Adin Hill had a strong performance in goal for the Knights, making 32 saves. The Knights' victory marked the sixth time in seven years that they have won their season opener. The banner ceremony and the slot machine were praised for their impressive design.
By now you’ve seen the Golden Knights banner ceremony, & 12-foot slot machine that Mark Stone pulled to unveil it. I spoke with the crew for a behind the scenes look at the entire show (plus a tease for Saturday’s new pregame show) On @TheAthleticNHL ⤵️ https://t.co/annIxprPwY

With the win last night, the Golden Knights improved to 6-1-0 in both season and home openers. This includes a streak of winning 5 straight.
The Knights raised one banner, then started the chase for another. Recapping the opener, including a giant slot machine, a monster performance from Hill and a unique goal from Marchessault. https://t.co/nytTgFZ7EO
Banner ceremonies are usually cringe but @GoldenKnights did it in style last night with a damn slot machine send off that was awesome. https://t.co/YFdzW0f1W6

End of the first, 2-0 Vegas. Exactly what you were hoping for if you’re a Golden Knights fan. Adin Hill was sharp. All four lines looked good. And Vegas created some dangerous chances.
Kraken down 2-0 as Brandon Tanev victimized by bad luck. Tries to play puck behind net but puck hits Jonathan Marchessault’s stick and goes in net with 5:03 to go in first. #SEAKraken #Kraken #NHL https://t.co/6aLnkImwIp
It was a joyous celebration for the @Golden Knights, much different from the inaugural home game six years ago. My @SportingTrib column on the Stanley Cup champs raising their banner and beating Seattle on opening night. https://t.co/19tFSa2LZN
Source: The Golden Knights slot machine banner raising was “freaking cool.” https://t.co/sCZWnuxoC1
Burakovsky absolutely robbed by Adin Hill kick save. Vegas comes back other way and Chandler Stephenson taps in opening goal at net front on first Golden Knights shot at the 7:16 of the first. #SEAKraken trail 1-0. #Kraken #NHL https://t.co/0Nti86QU0f
The Vegas Golden Knights' banner ceremony is unreal 😱 https://t.co/Xyi5e2MZ9m
If you thought Vegas wouldn’t make a spectacle of their banner raising you were sorely mistaken https://t.co/lGFke0DIu1

End of 2: Golden Knights 3, Kraken 1 Barbashev with the insurance, but McCann cut into the lead. Hill continues to have a strong game.
One down, 39 to go. Jared McCann takes a pass in the slot and buries it behind Adin Hill to cut the gap to 3-1 just over 8 min into the 2nd. McCann scored 40 last season and now leads team in goals again. #SEAKraken #Kraken #NHL https://t.co/88o2boB9o2
McCann makes it 3-1 as Seattle is on the board w/11:41 left in the second.
Seattle is on the board with a goal by Jared McCann. 3-1
McCann strikes from the slot, and the Kraken are on the board. 3-1, 8:19 into the second.
Broken play, Seattle goal. Jared McCann. 3-1 Vegas.
Ivan Barbashev gets in behind Vince Dunn and uncorks a slap shot high on Grubauer from bottom of left circle at 1:27 of 2nd period. Vegas up 3-0. #SEAKraken #Kraken #NHL https://t.co/Hw5ciQZMZG
Absolutely mental stretch pass from McNabb. Puck along the boards just zips it 70 feet up the ice directly on the tape of Barbashev. It's 3-0 VGK on Opening Night, just like it was 2 years ago against Seattle.
McNabb with the spot-on stretch pass to Barbashev and he scores on the breakaway to make it 3-0.
What a pass by Brayden McNabb (???) to spring Ivan Barbashev on the breakaway. It's 3-0 less than two minutes into the second period.
Holy moly what a pass by Brayden McNabb to spring Ivan Barbashev on a breakaway. Barbashev hammers it past Grubauer to extend Vegas' lead to 3-0 early in the 2nd period.
Ivan Barbashev roofs one off the rush. 3-0 Knights, 1:20 into the second period.
Ivan Barbashev. Breakaway. Rocket. 3-0 Vegas.
