The Vegas Golden Knights faced off against the Colorado Avalanche in a game that put their penalty kill (PK) to the test. The Golden Knights had a difficult start with Jack Eichel's stick breaking on the power play and the Avalanche's Valeri Nichushkin scoring just 10 seconds into their power play, giving the Avalanche a 1-0 lead with only 13.8 seconds remaining in the first period. Despite this, the Golden Knights executed an excellent PK, with Eichel and Mark Stone leading the charge. They managed to hold off the Avalanche during their power play chances, even when it seemed like they were under significant pressure. The Golden Knights also had their own power play opportunities, one due to Devon Toews' tripping penalty. The Golden Knights expressed a mix of determination and a protective stance towards their players, including goalie Jiri Patera.
colorad-no thanks 1-0 avs
Nichushkin on the PP just 10 seconds into this thing. #Avs take a 1-0 lead with 13.8 remaining in the first period
another one for the good guys https://t.co/4QIYkXOpFo
Devon Toews to the box for tripping. Vegas back to the power play.
Excellent PK from VGK. Eichel and Stone led the way.
An excellent penalty kill from the Golden Knights. Excellent.
HUUUUUUUUGE https://t.co/jiPtayIqLB
VGK are battling, but it definitely feels like the ship is taking on water. PK needs to be better than they've been recently.
Devon Toews gets held up on the backcheck to give the Avs their first PP of the evening
going on the PK because they put the 👑 in the box
please don't push Jiri Patera, thank you :)
bad night to be Jack Eichel's stick on the power play
Great start for VGK here. Haven't allowed a shot. Solid play through the neutral zone. And now onto the PP (though it was a missed call).
we'll take it! https://t.co/gj0UTYKoea
