The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Edmonton Oilers with a 3-1 victory, showcasing strong defensive play and depth contributions. The Canucks swept the season series against the Oilers for the first time since 2014/15, outscoring them 21-7 over four meetings. Key players for the Canucks included Quinn Hughes, Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson, and J.T. Miller. Vancouver is now on the verge of winning the Pacific division with notable performances from new additions Suter and Lafferty, along with goaltender DeSmith.
#Canucks vs Oilers season series is proof that wins in October mean every bit as much as wins in April. Win ‘em when and where you can. Struck early and often and as a result now as close as can be to clinching Pacific title

#Canucks move to the precipice of winning the Pacific on a night the stars didn’t stuff the boxscore. Suter + Lafferty scored, while DeSmith stoned the Oilers. None of them were on the team last season. Credit Allvin and co. VAN isn’t here without a successful depth overhaul.
#Canucks sweep season series with #LetsGoOilers for 1st time since 2014/15 campaign. VAN winds up outscoring EDM 21-7 over their 4 meetings. Points leaders for @Canucks were: Quinn Hughes (1G,8A) Brock Boeser (6G,1A) Elias Pettersson (1G,6A) J.T. Miller (2G,5A) @Sportsnet650 https://t.co/AD2SOh2B8w
#Canucks go into Edmonton and beat the Oilers with a second assist from Miller and no points from Hughes, Pettersson or Boeser. Good night for depth guys and a strong night for that checking line
Canucks defended well despite taking on a ton of Edmonton pressure. The puck broke perfectly for them to ice it at 3-1.
Oilers started moving the puck quickly on the breakout in the latter stages of the 2nd, and it shifted things somewhat. #Canucks up 2-1. If EDM cares about the division they should tactically consider themselves down by 1.5 goals, and chase the regulation comeback accordingly.
Oilers get one back off of an Evander Kane deflection. That's a tough bounce for the #Canucks. They'd been playing suffocating defense all period, and were structurally sound on that play too.
