The Tampa Bay Lightning's six-game point streak ended with a 4-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Despite leading 2-1 going into the third period, the Lightning could not secure a win in the first game of their road trip, extending their winless streak on the road to 0-3-1 for the season. In another game, the Washington Capitals led the Blue Jackets 2-1 after the first period, with goals from Sonny Milano and Tom Wilson. However, the Capitals suffered a blow with the loss of Trevor van Riemsdyk to injury. The Blue Jackets' Voronkov scored early in the second period, reducing the Capitals' lead. Meanwhile, in Ottawa, the Lightning and Senators were tied 1-1 after the first period, with the Lightning holding a 16-7 shot advantage.
