The Vegas Golden Knights faced a challenging set of games, first against the Tampa Bay Lightning and then the Anaheim Ducks. In the game against Tampa, the Golden Knights fell short with a final score of 5-4. Despite a strong comeback attempt in the third period, their efforts were not enough to secure a point. The game was noted for its entertainment value and the Golden Knights' struggle with penalty kills, allowing three goals in just 2:55. Over their last six games, the team has allowed a concerning total of 27 goals. In a separate match, the Golden Knights were down by four goals at the end of the first period against the Anaheim Ducks, a situation from which they have never historically recovered to win a game. The Ducks capitalized on their opportunities, scoring four goals on nine shots, while the Golden Knights lacked urgency and goaltender Logan Thompson was not at his sharpest, despite the Golden Knights having a slight edge in high danger chances at 4-3.
Hard to do when it’s 4-0 https://t.co/aYgSP4Fctk
According to @NatStatTrick, high danger chances were 4-3 VGK in that first period.
Fourth time ever, regular season or playoffs, the Golden Knights have given up four goals in the first period.
End of the first, 4-0 Anaheim. The Golden Knights simply didn’t come out with urgency in the first period. Logan Thompson didn’t look sharp. And now Vegas has to find something to build on the final 40.
End of 1: Ducks 4, Golden Knights 0. Crowd rises to applaud the team into the intermission. #FlyTogether
The Golden Knights have never come back from a 4 goal deficit to win a game.
🚨 Terry 🚨 It's 4-0!! #FlyTogether https://t.co/dcpVefsb19
Anaheim leads 4-0 as the puck slips underneath Thompson. Ducks have 4 goals on 9 shots.
Final, 5-4 Tampa. That was a wildly entertaining game. Vegas will lament the penalty kill once again, but the Golden Knights showed a lot coming back in the third. Would Have loved to grab a point out of this one. Probably deserved one.
Final- Tampa Bay 5, Vegas 4 The Golden Knights have allowed 27 goals in the last 6 games.
End of 2: Lightning 4, Golden Knights 2 For all the good in the first, it’s gone after two. Tampa gets four in the period, including three in 2:55.
