The St. Louis Blues dominated the Colorado Avalanche in a hockey game, with Brayden Schenn and Pavel Buchnevich both achieving hat tricks. The Blues took an early lead, with Schenn scoring twice in the first period and adding another in the third. Buchnevich also scored twice, including a shorthanded goal. The Avs struggled on the power play and gave up multiple goals, trailing 7-1 in the third period. Mikko Rantanen managed to score for the Avs, but it wasn't enough as the Blues secured an 8-2 victory. Binnington made key saves for the Blues, and the game ended with Schenn and Buchnevich each with four-point nights. The Blues' dominance was evident, as they doubled their season power play goal total and secured their fourth win in the last five games.
Brayden Schenn & Pavel Buchnevich are the 3rd duo in Blues history to both have a hat trick in a game. The last duo was Doug Gilmour and Mark Hunter in 1986 vs the Hartford Whalers. https://t.co/iLdnO9phxG
final: #stlblues 8, #avs 2 ... Schenn and Buchnevich each with hat tricks, Schenn and Thomas with four-point nights; Faulk, Sundqvist, Krug each with two points. Binnington with 38 saves. That's four wins in last five.

second visiting hat trick and second shorty of the night #Avs #GoAvsGo @TheRinkColorado
The #Avs have one goal. The Blues have two hat tricks.
Pavel Buchnevich scores a shorthanded goal for the second time tonight. He also has a hat trick. Avs trail 7-1, and fans are leaving. “Let’s go, Blues!” chants are raining down in Denver.
And there's Buchnevich's hat trick, 7-1. Another shorthanded goal. #stlblues
A double hat trick. Buchnevich scores another shorthanded goal, and it’s 7-1. For the second straight Saturday, the Avs have surrendered 7 goals against.
I still go back to those three saves Binnington made on MacKinnon, Rantanen and Makar on #avs PP. If they score there, it's 3-1, now have momentum, got a goal late, never know then what would happen, but #stlblues got that Buchnevich SHG to go up 4-0 and essentially put game away
Brayden Schenn that close to his fourth of the game. #stlblues
Schenn with his fourth NHL hat trick and first since Dec. 5, 2017 in a 4-3 win at Montreal. #stlblues
Hat trick for Brayden Schenn, 6-1. #stlblues
A handful of hats hit the ice for Brayden Schenn's hat trick tally. Ivan Prosvetov coming in for Georgiev. Avs trailing 6-1 and struggling in basically every aspect of their game right now.
The Blues have doubled their season power play goal total, and Brayden Schenn has a hat trick. It's 6-1 St. Louis. A few hats are making their way on the ice. Ivan Prosvetov is coming in for Georgiev.
Buchnevich has both #stlblues PP goals this season and it ended an 0-for-24 run dating back to Oct. 24 at Winnipeg.
The Blues, who entered the game with a 2.9 percent power play success rate, just scored on the power play. It's 5-1 early in the third. This has not been an ideal night for the Avs.
The #Avs create a rush chance that nearly results in a late-period goal, but Jordan Binnington made the save and then Tomas Tatar took a roughing penalty. Avs will start the third period on the PK. Blues lead 4-1 after two.
That's a helluva tip by Rantanen to cut #stlblues lead to 4-1.
The #Avs desperately needed a goal, and Mikko Rantanen delivers. He redirects a Cale Makar shot to cut into St. Louis' lead. The Blues are still up 4-1.
Rantanen with a nifty deflection out of mid-air. 4-1.
Rantanen gets one back. 4-1 Blues
And now, for the third game in a row, the #Avs take a bench minor for too many men on the ice. Blues have a chance to make this really ugly.
Binnington with three key saves on MacKinnon, Rantanen and Makar on that PK, then a pretty play by Sundqvist on the breakout with the backhand sauce and did Buchnevich ever need that. #stlblues
The #Avs put together a strong power play shift with a couple of near misses/good Binnington saves, but then the top unit lost track of the puck in their zone, leading to a 2-on-1 the other way. Sundqvist feeds Buchnevich, and it's 4-0.
Buchnevich shorty, 4-0 #stlblues
Blues score on the PK to make it 4-0 #Avs #GoAvsGo @TheRinkColorado

Shorthanded goal. Avs trail 4-0
Robert Thomas goes to the box and the Avs will get their first PP of the night #Avs #GoAvsGo @TheRinkColorado
#Avs finally get their first PP and it comes past the halfway mark
Disastrous end to the period for Colorado. The Blues win a faceoff, Robert Thomas feeds Krug in a dangerous area, and Krug buries a shot with 1.1 seconds left. It's 3-0 at the end of the first.
Blues add another with 1.1 seconds remaining. Avs are heading into the first intermission down 3-0
Brayden Schenn gets his second of the night. The Blues get going in transition, and former #Avs forward Brandon Saad feeds Schenn in front of the net. 2-0
And it's 2-0. Avs turn the puck over in the offensive zone and Blues make them pay at the other end.
Brayden Schenn gets another. This one with 1:07 remaining in the first. Avs trail 2-0 again, and being outshot 15-12
The #Avs nearly tied this game right back up. Binnington stopped a redirected shot, then made a good recovery to halt a Logan O'Connor rebound attempt. Then Cale Makar hit a post.
The Blues take the early lead. Torey Krug fired a shot from the point, and Brayden Schenn redirected it. Colorado starts the game from behind.
