END 1: The Avs trail 1-0, though they're outshooting SJ 16-8. Avs had a couple near goals at the end of the frame. MacKinnon split two defenders and got a puck through Blackwood that the Sharks somehow kept out, then Johansen had a would've-been goal robbed by a Rutta stick.
Sharks are outshot 16-7 in the first period, survive some hairy moments against the lethal Avs offense, and hold a 1-0 lead.
