In a tightly contested NHL game, the Nashville Predators defeated the Minnesota Wild 3-2, snapping their two-game losing streak and halting the Wild's three-game winning streak. The match saw a goal by Michael McCarron of the Predators disallowed for a high stick just 1:10 into the game, but Nashville bounced back with Filip Forsberg and Roman Josi scoring to take a 2-1 lead in the third period. Ryan Carpenter tied the game 2-2 with a deflection, with 15:32 left in regulation. The Predators extended their lead to 3-1 with 7:12 remaining in the third. The Wild called a timeout with 3:59 to play while down 3-1 and on a 40-second power play kill. Matt Boldy's late goal brought the Wild within one, but the Predators held on for the win at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Nashville holds its lead over Minnesota with a 3-2 win in St. Paul, snapping their own 2-game losing streak and the Wild’s three-game winning streak.
Boldy, 3-2 #Preds up by one with 3:51 to play.
Wild TO with 3:59 to play. Preds lead 3-1 and are on the PK for 40 more seconds
Roman Josi sneaks the puck through Brock Faber's jersey and into the net. Lucky bounce, but the Preds will take it. https://t.co/z0SFbacOTn
Wild now down 3-1 with 7:12 left in the third period. I'm extremely impressed by this Nashville team and its discipline. Ryan O'Reilly just a fantastic night. Love watching that guy play.
Another Nashville goal. They lead #mnwild 3-1. Roman Josi with a shot that clips Brock Faber en route to the net.
3-1 Preds....Roman Josi scores on a deflected shot. Gus Nyquist initial assist. Wild have coughed this thing away...
Roman Josi has his shot hit Faber and go in. 3-1 Preds.
Less than a minute later Forsberg puts Nashville on top, deflecting in a one-timer from Roman Josi.
Forsberg, 2-1 #Preds score twice in 34 seconds to take the lead in Minnesota.
Another Nashville goal, this one from Roman Josi. 2-1 Predators early in the third period.
Filip Forsberg deflects Roman Josi's shot soon thereafter for a 2-1 Preds lead. Apparently I didn't distract Forsberg either this morning
Less than a minute later Forsberg puts Nashville on top with one-timer off a nice backhander feed from ROR.
Predators with a delay of game penalty; so #mnwild 5-on-3 for 10 seconds.
Nashville to the power play with 6:13 left in the first period.
Pretty sure that's a high-stick for McCarron's goal. #Preds
Check that... McCarron knocked it in with a high stick. They will review, but I think it's no goal. https://t.co/BIJtlH9A6J
Predators score 1:10 into the game, but #mnwild immediately motion for a high stick. The goal is called off, but they're taking a look.
Well I'll be darn tooting, it looks like right there them Nashville Predators done scored the first goal. Michael McCarron in front with what looks like it sure might be a high stick.
Ryan Carpenter, 2-2. His third goal of the season and his second against the Rangers this year.
Old #NYR friend Ryan Carpenter gets a deflection and it's a 2-2 game with 15:32 left in regulation
