The Philadelphia Flyers kicked off their season with a 2-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The victory was largely attributed to Flyers' Travis Konecny, who scored both goals, and goalie Carter Hart, who made 23 saves. Despite an injury to Zach Werenski, the Blue Jackets put up a strong fight in the second period, but the Flyers retained their lead till the end.

Flyers win their season opener. Nice.
#Flyers have a 2-1 lead after two.
Second period comes to a merciful end for the #CBJ ... who were bailed out by Merzlikins and lost Werenski to an apparent right knee injury on a hit by Hathaway that was ruled a kneeing penalty. Jackets trail Flyers 2-1 with a period to go.
Flyers still lead Blue Jackets, 2-1, at second intermission. Carter Hart has 23 saves.
Hathaway penalty aside, strong second period for Flyers, who outshoot Jackets 14-9. Still 2-1 lead after two. Flyers still without a power play, are 2-for-2 on the PK.
Two periods down at Nationwide, #CBJ still in a 2-1 hole after a scoreless second period, but the mood has been dampened considerably by the injury to Zach Werenski.
Flyers still up 2-1 after 40 minutes of play. They dominated the bulk of that period, but there was a pushback from Columbus after the Werenski injury.
Still 2-1 here in Nationwide as we've passed the midway point, but the Flyers have had the better of things in the second. #CBJ
#CBJ to the PP after Couturier sent off for tripping near the mid-point in the 2nd, Flyers up 2-1.
The Flyers are well conditioned. Love their start to both periods this far
