In a game between the Minnesota Wild and the Winnipeg Jets, Pat Maroon and Adam Lowry engaged in a fight just two seconds into the game. Maroon seemed to initiate the altercation, and Lowry obliged. Maroon was later slow to get up after a high stick from Neal Pionk. Lowry mentioned that Maroon politely asked him to fight and allowed him to take the faceoff, indicating mutual understanding.
Adam Lowry told me that Maroon came over and "politely" asked him if he wanted to go. "He let me take the faceoff--one of the few ones I won tonight. He just asked if I'd give him one. He wasn't being abrasive. It was one of those things where we both understand what's going on."
