Paul Maurice has become the third head coach in NHL history to serve in 1,800 career games after coaching game No. 1800 in Tampa, and is now just 13 games shy of claiming second place in league history. On the other hand, John Tortorella, who reached his 1,500th game coached on Friday, has won his 723rd NHL game with the Flyers, after a 4-1 victory over his former team, moving him into tenth place all-time among coaches. He was tied with Alain Vigneault for the position before the win. In addition, Sean Couturier has tied for the fifth-most games played in Flyers history with 753, despite missing nearly the last two seasons of hockey.

sidebar to tonight's #Canucks vs Flyers game. John Tortorella can move into solo 10th in all time #NHL coaching wins. He just happens to be tied there with former Canucks and Flyers coach Alain Vigneault -- the guy he basically swapped jobs with in 2013 when AV went to the NYR https://t.co/rVBE5LstCU

John Tortorella, on reaching 1,500 games coached on Friday, and what he likes about the job. The end here is classic. https://t.co/4erFSQCiEq
To last as long as Paul Maurice has, you have to adjust and adapt to a changing NHL. Maurice coaches game No. 1800 tonight in Tampa - and keeps on moving forward. âŦī¸đŗđđģđđŠī¸đēâŦī¸ https://t.co/PIOdDpNCMn
