New Jersey Devils goaltender Vitek Vanecek sustained an injury during a game after blocking a shot on a Columbus Blue Jackets power play. The shot, taken by Yegor Chinakhov, struck Vanecek up high in a less protected area, causing him significant pain and leaving him laying on his stomach on the ice. Despite the injury, Vanecek decided to remain in the game. Play was briefly halted to allow trainers to attend to him, and while backup goaltender Nico Daws warmed up in the tunnel as a precaution, Vanecek continued to play.

Vitek Vanecek is down after making a stop on a #CBJ power play. Took a Yegor Chinakhov shot up high where the padding ain't always great. That would absolutely hurt. He's staying in but my goodness I bet that stings.
