In a feisty game between the Colorado Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings, a scrum broke out after Pierre-Luc Dubois clipped Fredrik Olofsson knee-to-knee. Logan O'Connor of the Avalanche took on Alex Laferriere of the Kings in the first fight of the year for the Avalanche. O'Connor got in a few punches before Laferriere wrestled him to the ice. Both players received penalties for fighting, and MacDermid and Bjornfoot also received penalties. This was Laferriere's first NHL game and his first NHL fight, earning him praise from Kings fans and his family.
LOC pulls Laferriere out of the scrum and tries to team him a lesson for taking a run at Fredrik Olofsson. Both go to the box for fighting and MacDermid gets 2 as well as Bjornfoot. #Avs #GoAvsGo @TheRinkColorado
First time I've seen a family celebrate a guy fighting in his NHL debut like Alex Laferriere's family https://t.co/j6i0aHfQLs
First NHL game for Alex Laferriere. First NHL fight for Alex Laferriere. Dropping gloves with Logan O'Connor and working his way into Kings fans' hearts.
In his first NHL game, #Kings Alex Laferriere with an impressive fight and takedown of the #Avs Logan O'Connor. Tie Domi and Rob Ray would be proud.

Scrum ensues after PL Dubois clips an Avs player and a line brawl ensues. O'Connor on the Avs finds Alex Laferriere of all players to fight and ends up getting the worst of the 21-year-old. Leave it to the rookie to inject some life into the Kings.
This game is feisty. Dubois just stuck his knee out on Olofsson, and he's headed to the box. Now LOC and Lafrierre are fighting. I think they're reviewing the Dubois hit on the iPad right now.
