Derick Brassard has announced his retirement from professional hockey at the age of 36. Brassard, a 6th overall pick by the Columbus Blue Jackets (CBJ) in the 2006 NHL Draft, played 1,013 games over a 16-year career spanning from 2007 to 2023. He recorded 545 points during his career, which included stints with ten different teams: CBJ, New York Rangers (NYR), Ottawa Senators (OTT), Pittsburgh Penguins (PIT), Florida Panthers (FLA), Colorado Avalanche (COL), New York Islanders (NYI), Arizona Coyotes (ARZ), Philadelphia Flyers (PHI), and Edmonton Oilers (EDM). Brassard played one season with the Flyers, appearing in 31 games, and one season with the Islanders. He is third all-time among CBJ draft picks in NHL games played and fourth in points.
