Columbus Blue Jackets (CBJ) player Sean Kuraly suffered an abdominal injury during a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was evaluated at Grant Medical Center and later released, with no serious damage reported. Kuraly is expected to miss games and is considered day-to-day. Meanwhile, Zach Werenski, another CBJ player, sustained a lower-body injury and is also expected to miss games. Werenski's injury is being evaluated, but it is likely to keep him out for weeks. The team has placed him on injured reserve. Both Kuraly and Werenski's injuries were the result of on-ice incidents during games. Kuraly's injury is believed to have been caused by a hard hit from a stick, while Werenski's injury occurred when his legs got tangled with an opposing player. The team is closely monitoring their conditions, and updates are expected after the holiday break.

Didn't look like Zach Werenski could put any weight on his leg as he was helped to the bench. Got tangled up with Ondrej Palat after poke-checking the Devils forward. A very unlucky break, and you hate to see that for Werenski with all he's been through. #CBJ
#CBJ Werenski is injured and down, trying to crawl to the bench. Now trainer Mike Vogt is out to get him, and with Erik Gudbranson helps him off to the ice. He's not putting any weight on his left ankle.
Definitely a knee injury on what looked like a harmless tangle between the two players. Werenski putting no weight on his leg as he's helped off the ice. https://t.co/fSSysvQOn5

Told Sean Kuraly was further evaluated at Grant Medical Center and everything checked out OK. Wasn’t admitted and went home last night. Bullet dodged. That was a scary sight last night, but glad he’s doing OK. #CBJ

UPDATE: #CBJ F Sean Kuraly was injured late in the 1st period of tonight’s game vs. Toronto. Medical personnel were alerted as a precaution. He is currently being evaluated at the arena.
Certainly hoping for the best for Sean Kuraly. You could tell by the way the #CBJ bench reacted that it was serious. On the ice, the Jackets are down 1-0 but played a pretty strong period. Seems like we'll have the second period upcoming here as scheduled.
Sean Kuraly got hit behind the #CBJ net by Jake McCabe, nothing that looked out of the ordinary. Played the puck but was in more and more distress as he headed back to the bench. About 30 seconds after he got there, the bench started waving frantically for help from medics.
Kuraly was in a collision with two Maple Leafs behind the Toronto net, tried to continue playing and then left the ice hunched over grabbing his lower right abdomen or right hand/arm? Left the ice, hunched down to a knee. Got into the tunnel behind the #CBJ bench & collapsed.
Game stoppage. Ends the first period early. Kuraly went off the ice, and seemed like he was in a lot of pain. Hope he’s okay and sending him all of the well wishes right now. #CBJ
