#stlblues-#avs three-period takeaways include a strong start by Blues with nothing to show for it but chasing game after first; really strong second makes it a one-shot game; costly mistakes in third period result in 4-1 loss: https://t.co/L9j1wDhj0a
Ivan Prosvetov knew coming in that he needed to be patient before getting his chance. His first start was successful. Prosvetov made 27 saves, leading the #Avs to a 4-1 victory over the Blues. “He made all the saves he was supposed to make and then some." https://t.co/yXhCACohE6

The Blues lost, 4-1. They are 3-4-1. Just as the Blues seemed to get back on track late in the second, the Avalanche shut down any hope in the third.

FINAL: The #Avs get back on track with a 4-1 win against St. Louis. Ivan Prosvetov gets his first Colorado win. Ross Colton, Mikko Rantanen, Artturi Lehkonen and Bowen Byram all had goals.
2nd period impressions, Prosvetov has looked good under the pressure. Calm & a big body in net. #Avs need to close down the blue line & high slot to take away the chance for the Blues. Push more on the offensive end. #Avs #GoAvsGo @TheRinkColorado https://t.co/5TQ20ptxH1
END 2: The Avalanche lead 2-1 against the Blues. Ivan Prosvetov has had a strong first start with Colorado, but Robert Thomas beat him late in the period to make this a one-goal game. Blues will start the third with 1:07 of PP time.
Avs will take the 2-1 lead into the third period. Sloppy game, but Prosvetov has looked pretty big in net, stopping 19 of the 20 shots he's faced.
Great play by four Blues on Thomas' goal. - Leddy taking the puck 180 feet into the zone before dishing to Kapanen. - Buchnevich driving the net, creating a screen and getting out of the way. - Nice look by Kapanen. - Great cut to the middle by Thomas and shot. 2-1 Avs.
#stlblues needed that, Robert Thomas a beauty of a shot, after Nick Leddy's rush up the ice. Buchnevich cutting into the goalie's vision helps Thomas pick the corner.
Robert Thomas rips one under the bar to cut the #Avs lead in half. Lehkonen crashed into the post at the Blues end and was in pain on his way back to the bench. Blues essentially had a 5-on-4 rush there and took advantage. 2-1
Blues get one off the rush, as Thomas beats Prosvetov over the glove. Lehkonen went into the net at the other end, and left the ice slowly. 2-1.
Robert Thomas pulls the Blues within a goal. He fires a shot past Prosvetov from the slot. 2-1

Goal counts. Avs back to the powerplay up 2-0.
Good goal. 2-0, Avs and back on the power play.
The Blues are challenging a high-stick on Rantanen's PP goal. #stlblues
#Avs strike on the power play. 57 seconds of constant pressure, won every loose puck, Rantanen wired one through a screen. Blues are challenging though.
Mikko Rantanen nets a power play goal off a Cale Makar pass, and the #Avs have a 2-0 lead midway through the first. But the Blues are challenging for something. (I could not hear the ref on what.)
Mikko Rantanen rips one from the wing on the power play. 2-0, Avs. The Blues are challenging for a missed game stoppage.
Ross Colton gets around the man on the blue line and breaks in and snaps it past Binnington to go up 1-0 #Avs #GoAvsGo @TheRinkColorado
The #Avs several days-long nightmare is over. They have scored a goal. Ross Colton collected the puck in the neutral zone, went to the net down the right wing and didn't miss. 1-0
Ross Colton scores his first non-empty net goal as an #Av. He uppercuts the air in excitement. Got around Tucker and beat Binnington blocker side. 1-0 Colorado
Ross Colton told me today that he didn't keep the puck in Long Island. He'll probably keep that one. His second as a member of the Avalanche, first that he actually has scored. It's 1-0 Avalanche.
Ross Colton goes around Tyler Tucker. 1-0, Avs.
Ross Cotlon. 1-0 #Avs
