The Columbus Blue Jackets (CBJ) made two significant selections in the NHL draft, choosing defenseman Charlie Elick from the Brandon Wheat Kings with the 36th overall pick and trading up to select goaltender Evan Gardner from Saskatoon with the 60th overall pick. Elick, a right-shot defenseman, has a connection with Cayden Lindstrom, while Gardner, a highly rated goalie, expressed excitement about being chosen by CBJ.
