The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired forward Callahan Burke from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for defenseman Caleb Jones. Burke will remain on loan with the Colorado Eagles in the AHL. This trade provides the Avalanche with a seventh defenseman. Additionally, Pavel Francouz has been moved to long-term injured reserve. Since Carolina does not have an AHL affiliate, both Burke and Jones will continue playing for the Colorado Eagles. This trade adds defensive depth for the Avalanche.
