Defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk of the Washington Capitals is back on the ice after suffering a lower body injury. Meanwhile, Columbus Blue Jackets' forward Patrik Laine, who has been out with a concussion, has been skating on his own and responding well. Laine's coach, Pascal Vincent, is hopeful for his return and mentioned that Laine has been feeling better and better. Laine has also been skating with his teammates and extras, but it is uncertain when he will be available for a full team practice and return to the game.
Patrik Laine skating with Blue Jackets extras this morning, third straight day on the ice. No indication that he’s available tonight. Almost certainly not given that he hasn’t gone through a full team practice yet. Still, encouraging. #CBJ vs #TexasHockey tonight in Columbus https://t.co/oCSM3V8tDI
Injured #CBJ forward Patrik Laine is skating with the Jackets scratches this morning. I believe it’s his first skate with teammates since suffering his upper-body injury Oct. 20.
#CBJ Patrik Laine (concussion) among the early players out for today’s morning skate. Another good sign that he’s making progress toward a return.
#CBJ coach Pascal Vincent said Patrik Laine skated on his own Tuesday and was skated hard today before practice. He responded well, so his return may happen fairly soon. Vincent said he’s unsure whether Fantilli will stay at center or move back to LW when Laine returns.
#CBJ head coach Pascal Vincent on Patrik Laine: "The good news is Patrik skated this morning, and we pushed him hard and he responded well. ... He's feeling better and better so that's good news." Also skated yesterday. Hoping he'll be back sooner rather than later.
#CBJ Patrik Laine (concussion) skated on his own yesterday and today and appeared to handle it well, per coach Pascal Vincent. Still being watched closely and no timetable for return.
