In a closely contested NHL game, the Vancouver Canucks faced off against the Colorado Avalanche, showcasing a solid defensive performance despite being on the second half of a back-to-back schedule. The game was tied 1-1 after 40 minutes, highlighting the Canucks' resilience and goaltender Thatcher Demko's efforts in keeping the game competitive. Despite the Canucks' strong play, the Avalanche secured a 2-0 victory, with Johansen and Georgiev leading the team. The result sets the stage for a significant upcoming game against the Seattle Kraken, with the Canucks facing their third game in four nights and aiming to rebound from their recent loss. The Kraken, on the other hand, are looking to capitalize on this opportunity to bolster a regional rivalry with the Canucks, emphasizing the importance of their next encounter.
With Grubauer's goalie stick caught in net webbing, opportunistic Miller parks himself at top of crease to deposit loose puck and open scoring. #Canucks
#Canucks take their leading goal-scorer and PPG scorer (Boeser) off PP1. Lindholm there for face-off utility, I suppose
Here are the lines/pairings for tonight’s #SEAKraken game against Vancouver. #NHL https://t.co/uD9bRhoxJQ
#Canucks limped into Seattle off a loss in Colorado in November. And beat Kraken 5-1 with goals from a bunch of depth scorers. Held Kraken to 2 shots on goal in third period. Can they draw on that tonight?
It’s Demko, it’s Grubauer, it’s the #Canucks’ first time trying to break a 3-game losing streak this season, it’s two points the Kraken need desperately. It’s an I-5 battle that should have some heat. https://t.co/LvIur6TMW7
2-0 against the top team in the Western Conference doesn't look so bad. Johansen, Georgiev Lead Avalanche To Big Win Over Canucks https://t.co/NgVMr2N7PO
A first round playoff matchup with the Vancouver Canucks could really help the #SEAKraken by jump starting a regional rivalry. But the Kraken need to do their part to make that happen — starting Thursday against those Canucks. https://t.co/BvyAbhbY7m #NHL #Canucks
#Canucks played well tonight, really well, but the Avs got the bounce + that’s the difference. Game in Seattle on Thursday now looms large. And it’s a tough one given that the Kraken will be rested and VAN will be playing their 3rd game in 4 nights (and 8th game in 13 days(!)).
That’s a nice win for the Avalanche. Canucks were on second half of a back-to-back, but didn’t really look like it. Fun hockey game.
The result, however the end game plays out, shouldn’t obscure a really impressive #Canucks defensive performance tonight. MacKinnon line had 2 sick shifts early, but has been contained since. Avalanche haven’t found anything off the rush. No space out there to make plays.
#Avs have 13 shot attempts on two power plays in this game. Canucks had two on their one opportunity.
Avalanche threw their fastball in the second period and carried play, but for the most part, the #Canucks have stood in well tonight. Solid bounce back performance from Monday's nightmare third period in St. Paul.
1-1 after 40 minutes. Best case scenario for the Canucks on a back-to-back. Avs look great but can't get much past Demko
