Texas Measles Outbreak Hits 223 Cases, One Child Death, Spreads to Oklahoma Amid Vaccination Debate

A measles outbreak in Texas has escalated, with the state reporting 223 cases and 29 hospitalizations as of the latest update. The outbreak, which began in late January, has now spread to neighboring states, with two cases reported in Oklahoma. The severity of the outbreak is highlighted by the death of one child, marking the first measles-related death in the country in a decade. Most of the cases, 156, are concentrated in Gaines County. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has suggested unconventional treatments for measles, including cod liver oil and vitamin A, despite the availability of the highly effective MMR vaccine, which is 97% effective.
