Brussels Approves €400 Million Spanish Plan for Renewable Hydrogen as France Revises Targets and Allocates €100 Million Aid

The European Commission has approved a Spanish plan allocating 400 million euros to support the production of renewable hydrogen. This funding aims to boost Spain's green hydrogen industry as part of broader efforts to advance clean energy technologies. Meanwhile, France has revised its hydrogen strategy, lowering its production capacity targets to up to 4.5 gigawatts by 2030 and a maximum of 8 gigawatts by 2035. The French government introduced new support measures for the hydrogen sector following setbacks in various projects, though the industry remains frustrated with the updated strategy. Additionally, the French state has allocated 100 million euros in aid to Gen-Hy for green hydrogen development in Allenjoie. Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot emphasized the need for 3.5 billion euros annually for rail and road infrastructure investments, highlighting ongoing budgetary pressures.
