Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has vetoed nearly $1 billion from the state budget before signing a $116.5 billion budget. The vetoes include significant cuts to various projects and services, such as $57 million used for support services for the Florida Legislature, $33 million for the University of West Florida, $50 million for Tampa Bay projects, and $30 million for a tutoring program at the University of Florida. Additionally, $3 million for a first responder and public safety facility at Big Bend Technical College and funding for Miami-Dade gun violence prevention and mental health programming were also vetoed. Despite these cuts, state funding for a new Student Achievement Center at Florida Polytechnic University survived the vetoes. The Florida Education Association criticized the budget, stating that the $200 million allocated for teacher pay is insufficient. The vetoes are detailed in a 16-page list.

Seeking clarification but it looks like @GovRonDeSantis may have vetoed nearly $57m used to pay for support services for the entire Florida Legislature. The aim may have been to wipe out a study dealing with credit card fees being paid for out of this line item. But still..
