Aleksander Barkov, the Florida Panthers' captain, will not be joining the team for their upcoming game in Nashville due to the short nature of the trip. Instead, Barkov, who wears jersey number 16, will spend an hour skating on each of the next few days, with the team's coach, Paul Maurice, expressing hope that Barkov will return for the Wednesday game against the Arizona Coyotes. In Barkov's absence, the Panthers have recalled Mackie Samoskevich from their AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. Samoskevich is set to fill the open forward spot and will play right wing on the third line alongside Stenlund and Lomberg.
