The World Health Organization (WHO) has condemned an attack on Al-Mujlad Hospital in West Kordofan, Sudan, which resulted in the deaths of more than 40 civilians, including children and healthcare workers. The incident occurred over the weekend near the frontline between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) amid ongoing civil conflict. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus described the attack as "appalling" and emphasized that attacks on healthcare facilities must cease globally. The hospital strike has drawn international attention to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan, where the health system is severely impacted by the conflict. The attack adds to the toll of tens of thousands killed during two years of war, with Sudan also facing a severe inflation rate estimated at 47% annually, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
