Rio Police Search for British-Russian Tourist Denis Kopanev Missing After Leaving Gávea Airbnb

Rio de Janeiro’s Civil Police are searching for Denis Kopanev, a London-based tourist who holds both British and Russian citizenship and works as a financial analyst. Kopanev vanished on 9 June after leaving an Airbnb in the Gávea neighbourhood of the city’s South Zone. According to local reports, the traveller had arranged to meet an American friend through a mobile application on the night of his disappearance and had a ticket booked to São Paulo that same day, but he never boarded the flight. Before arriving in Rio, he had toured the Amazon region and several cities in Minas Gerais and was known to visit Brazil every three to four months. The Civil Police and the public tip line Disque Denúncia have circulated Kopanev’s photograph and appealed for information. Investigators say no line of inquiry has been ruled out as the search enters its fourth day.
