A gunman wearing what witnesses described as a police uniform shot two Democratic members of the Minnesota Legislature in separate attacks on 14 June, killing one of the lawmakers and critically injuring the other. Local reports said two additional people were wounded, and authorities are treating the shootings as a politically motivated assault. President Donald Trump condemned the violence, calling it a “terrible” and “targeted” attack that “will not be tolerated in the United States.” He said Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been instructed to pursue the case and “prosecute anyone involved to the fullest extent of the law.” Minnesota Governor Tim Walz described the incident as a potential political assassination, and a multi-agency manhunt for the suspect is under way.
