Ukraine Permits Poland to Exhume 1939 War Graves in Lviv's Zboishcha Amid Volyn Memorial Day Tensions and Reciprocal Yurechkova Exhumations

Tensions between Ukraine and Poland have escalated following Warsaw's establishment of a day commemorating the victims of the Volyn massacre, according to The Telegraph. In a related development, Ukraine has granted Poland permission to exhume the remains of Polish soldiers who died in 1939 and were buried in the former village of Zboishcha in Lviv. The initial phase of this exhumation work occurred in late April to early May. In a reciprocal arrangement, Poland has also authorized Ukraine to conduct exhumation activities in the Polish village of Yurechkova. These actions reflect ongoing efforts between the two countries to address historical wartime issues despite recent diplomatic strains.
