Punjab Police have opened a murder investigation after social-media influencer Kamal Kaur was found dead inside her car at the parking lot of Adesh Medical University in Bathinda on 12 June 2025. Kaur, also known as Kanchan Kumari, had about 383,000 Instagram followers and lived in Ludhiana. SP City Bathinda Narinder Singh said officers were alerted on the evening of 11 June when hospital staff reported a foul smell coming from a vehicle that had been parked for several hours. Police broke into the car and discovered Kaur’s body. The vehicle has been seized and the body sent for post-mortem examination. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the campus and nearby roads and are examining Kaur’s recent communications. Police sources said she had reported receiving threats last year from alleged gangster Arsh Dalla, and that angle is being explored. No arrests have been made so far.
